So I was looking at the internets the other day and saw this robot
And thought – hello, that’s a similar principle to the one off… wassername – that 70s movie… post-apocalyptic – so I googled post-apocalyptic sci fi movies and found a list bigger than I thought possible, which is cool, because I like sci fi movies, even if they are UTTER RUBBISH. Anyway. Damnation Alley – top film. A guy gets eaten by giant cockroaches. It also has the coolest tank/winnebago crossover in the whole world:
And thankfully someone’s made one out of lego, which is basically THE stamp of approval from The Geekosphere.
I thought (for a while) confirmed that his (kindof) my theory that every technological artefact that turns up in a Sci Fi movie, eventually gets made… but this one was already made – the one in the movie was real…
it fell out of favour for a bit
But now someone’s put it back together.
(from)
It’s got a similar design in some ways to the Homer Simpson car – a separate sound-proof compartment at the back for the kids.
And I think someone’s made one for a video game as well… Trainz?

I don’t know if that’s life copying art or vice-versa, but in cruising about looking for pictures of Damnation Alley, I also found this 70s Sci Fi house that someone’s built out of junk etc:
Which looks pretty cool if you ask me. Geek heaven etc. I also found this video of a factory which makes life-size working robots off Lost in Space
You can buy your own one here, for 24 thousand dollars, which is even more than they were in the movie… or you could just wait until people start making real life working C3P0s, because you know they will.
